2017 SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

The Carbon County Workforce Training Office is accepting applications for the 2017 Summer Youth Employment Program. The program is designed to provide work experience to youth. These are summer jobs at local non-profit, government and community based organizations throughout Carbon County. Job duties vary depending on worksite assignment. Some of the positions available are: Clerical, Maintenance, Laborer, Medical/Health Care, and Recreation. Applicants must be residents of Carbon County and meet eligibility requirements.

Pennsylvania’s Advanced Training & Hiring - Training Programs Available


PATH (Pennsylvania’s Advanced Training & Hiring) is a joint effort involving Lehigh Carbon Community College, Luzerne County Community College, and Northampton Community College to provide job training for students throughout the region and address graduating students who are prepared for workforce demands well into the future.

Employers will be involved in a variety of ways, including input in curriculum development, identifying apprenticeships and internship opportunities, providing mentors, donating or loaning equipment, involving employees who could benefit from additional training, and giving hiring priority to students who complete the programs.

Commuter Services of PA Logo       

What is Commuter Services of Pennsylvania and how can the free services benefit you?


Commuter Services of Pennsylvania promotes transit, carpooling, vanpooling, etc., to work. Anyone that lives or works in Adams, Berks, Carbon, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Monroe, Perry, Pike, Schuylkill, and York counties is eligible to enroll. Commuter Services of Pennsylvania maintains a confidential rideshare program of commuters traveling to worksites who want to share the ride. After they process your application, you will receive a list of other commuters who share the same travel pattern and schedule. It is up to you to contact someone on your list to start a carpool. Should you need further support, Commuter Services of Pennsylvania staff can assist you.

The Carbon Career and Technical Institute in partnership with Lehigh Carbon Community College will be offering FREE GED preparation classes. Evening and day sessions are available. Click here for further information.

 

GET THE TRAINING IT TAKES TO GET THE JOB YOU WANT

If you're currently unemployed, lost your job due to a plant closure or permanent layoff, or living on a low income, you may qualify for help with your training needs. Carbon County Workforce Training can determine if you qualify for training assistance through one of the following programs:
  • Financial Aid for Vocational Training assists with the costs of training programs at area vocational technical schools, community colleges and private training institutions.

  • On-the-Job Training Vouchers may be used in your efforts to find job opportunities with employers who are willing to train new employees.
